Cancer Advocacy Toolkit Overview

Cancer Alliance Advocacy Toolkit overview released

In support of World Cancer Day 2017 the Cancer Alliance announces the release of the Cancer Alliance Advocacy Toolkit, linked to the #letstalkaboutcancer campaign.

This unique Advocacy Toolkit will be made available to all our members to enable more targeted advocacy actions by all members. It is of core importance that we focus our efforts on our goals and SPEAK UP with ONE VOICE to really get the changes we want.

This Toolkit details the current cancer landscape and situation in South Africa, linking to nine specific issues identified through previous Calls to Action and Photovoice research results. It further links to the nine World Cancer Declaration targets and to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations for 2030 with a focus on cancer.

Nine Cancer Priority Areas to be expanded

This first release contains an overview of the cancer landscape in South Africa, identifies our primary concerns, and summarizes the nine Priority Areas identified for further work. Each of these will be expanded over the coming months into fact sheets, relevant policy briefs, possible posters and social media messaging for use in advocacy campaigns by member organizations.

The Advocacy Toolkit will be made available digitally and the Cancer Alliance website will be updated to support our advocacy work. A dedicated theme Let’s Talk About Cancer” will focus on these issues in the form of dedicated blogs and patient stories relating to the specific 9 focus issues.
